Nannette Berensen

Chief Operating Officer

Nannette Berensen serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Intermountain Health, where she has oversight and accountability for all health system operations in the regions and at Select Health. Nannette brings over 25 years of leadership experience to this role. All efforts aim to support the organization’s vision of creating a model health system for the future and to provide health services at the lowest appropriate cost to the communities we serve.

Nannette returned to Intermountain Health in 2006 and has held several leadership roles including her most recent position as vice president and chief operating officer of Clinical Shared Services. In this role, she developed and implemented the Clinical Shared Services model across 13 enterprise clinical service lines. Nannette also led the modernization of the Biorepository, one of the largest biobanks in existence. She also supported the launch of Tellica Imaging and served as the interim CEO and board chair for Tellica Imaging.

Before returning to Intermountain, Nannette was an associate professor at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy where she was a faculty member for over a decade.

Nannette earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah, and a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from University of Providence. She completed a specialized residency in drug information practice and pharmacotherapy at the National Institutes of Health.

Nannette grew up in Price, Utah and started her healthcare career as a phlebotomist at Castleview Hospital and at Primary Children’s Hospital while she was completing her undergraduate degree. She and her husband, Michael, live in Utah and have two daughters.
