    The eight families competing in this year’s Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute’s My Heart Challenge are looking for ideas, too. Check out these local activities the whole family can enjoy this summer. 

    Hikes

    Hiking is not only a great way to exercise, but can help you build relationships with family members. Spending a couple hours together each week as a family can help improve your relationships. Plus, getting the kids off of their technology isn’t a bad thing either.

    Biking

    Much like hiking, family bike rides can not only be good for your health, but good for your relationships. Learn how to ride a tandem bike together or simply enjoy the great outdoors together on separate bikes.

    A fun and free way to enjoy the warm weather this summer is taking the family to a splash pad. This is a simple way to enjoy the family for a summer afternoon. Bring along some snacks or even plan a picnic and make it a day trip.

    Visiting museums can be a fun way to introduce your kids to art and culture. Utah has some interesting museums that the kids will love and you’ll enjoy too without having to dig into your pockets.

    Although a library may not sound like an enjoyable place to take children on an outing, many libraries are now home to much more than dusty books. Many host community events, small galleries and even self-guided tours. University libraries in your community may also host family nights.
