    Weight loss: Diet vs. Exercise

The answer is simple; there is no easy answer. It takes consistent behavior practices and self-monitoring to lose weight, and keep it off!

The key to losing weight is burning more calories than you are consuming each day. In order to lose just one pound, you must burn 3,500 calories - the equivalent of 6.5 Big Macs or 14 avocados! Of course, it is easier to eat 3,500 calories that burn the same number. That’s where your hard work comes into play.

To lose weight, you must burn more calories and consume fewer calories. A combination of diet and exercise is the most effective way to lose weight, improve your health and maintain the weight loss. For sustained weight loss, you should be losing no more than two pounds per week. Making healthier choices throughout each day makes this possible. Aim for a deficit of 500 calories per day to lose one pound per week. This deficit will be much easier to attain if you are putting in your time at the gym and making healthier choices in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix. So, find activities you enjoy doing, try new recipes and get feeling better!
