    2021 - 2022 Intern
Master's degree from Colorado State University

St. Mary's Family Medicine Residency has been a true joy to be a part of. The community is full of laughter, comradery and shared experience, which lays a foundation on which you can safely push yourself as a therapist. The post-Master's position held the perfect balance of mentorship and autonomy while diversifying my skillset and knowledge. The experience of rotating through 4 different specialty clinics gave me breadth as a therapist I would never be able to obtain without the internship. In my new position as a Behavioral Health Provider working with high hospital utilizers, I have found unending support from both mentorship and leadership that has allowed me to work with extremely complex patients in creative and nuanced ways that are outside of the status quo.I would recommend the residency experience to anyone!

    Cara Pozun, MA
    2019 - 2020 Intern
Master's degree from University of San Diego

I cannot overstate how happy I have been as a post-masters intern at St. Mary’s Family Medicine Residency and would recommend the internship to anyone interested in a career in integrated care.Dr. Reitz and the St. Mary’s team have supported and facilitated the implementation of my elective in Trauma-Informed Care and created an environment for me to develop skills as a researcher, as well as a Medical Family Therapist. The breadth of the experiences at St. Mary’s is unrivaled, as Iwork weekly rotations in our HIV clinic, MAT clinic, and as behavioral health consultant.. As for the location, the town of Grand Junction is beautiful, with access to running, hiking, and biking trails within minutes from the clinic, all accessible throughout the year.

    Miranda Newman, MS
    2019 - 2020 Intern
    Master's degree from Auburn University

I have been absolutely thrilled with my experience as a post-masters intern at St. Mary's Family Medicine Residency-it has exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I have been able to work alongside resident and attending physicians to address all aspects of our patient's health in a primary care setting. I facilitate IOP and EOP groups in the addictions medicine clinic, work alongside an epileptologist addressing FND and seizures, facilitate a weekly wellness group for our patients, and see individuals, couples, and families in my own clinic. Additionally, I have been well supported by everyone on the behavioral health team and have both weekly individual and group supervision. My supervisors are thoughtful and experienced; they pushed me to grow as a clinician. Western Colorado is incredibly beautiful. From Grand Junction, you can drive 30 minutes in any direction and see some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.
