About our Foundation

Good Samaritan Medical Center opened its doors to the community in December 2004. The Good Samaritan Medical Center Foundation was established the same year to provide a way for the community to support the hospital.

Some of our areas of focus are:

  • Patient Assistance – Through the generosity of our donors, the Foundation has funds available to support patients in need so they can focus their energy where it should be – on their health.
  • Medical Education – The Foundation has a variety of education and scholarship funds, supported by our donors, through which scholarships are awarded to associates who are advancing their knowledge through college and other training programs.
  • Program and Project Funds – Our donors invest in programs and projects at the Medical Center to ensure that the best care is always available in our neighborhood. These gifts are an investment in the health of our community.
  • Community Health and Wellness – The Foundation works in conjunction with several local partners by investing in projects that enhance life and health in the community we love.

Many companies, local and national, will match employee contributions to 501c3 nonprofit organizations like Good Samaritan Foundation. Check with your company's human resources or community relations department to see whether your employer will match your gift. You could double the value of your gift.

You will be mailed an acknowledgment and a receipt for your tax purposes and we will work with you to successfully complete and file any necessary documentation for your employer, and we will provide your employer with a letter of acknowledgment and tax receipt for its matching gift, as well.

You can make a gift in memory of a friend or loved one, in tribute to an extraordinary person or caregiver who has made a difference in your life, or to commemorate a special occasion. You can also restrict your gift to benefit programs or services that you find valuable or allow the foundation to determine the area of greatest need.

When you make a memorial or tribute gift, we will acknowledge your gift with a receipt and we will also send a note to the person or the family of the person you are memorializing or honoring to let them know about your kindness. Memorial and tribute gifts of all sizes are appreciated, and we will not share the size of any gift with the individual or family members of the individual being memorialized or honored.

Memorial and tribute gifts can be made in a variety of ways:

  • To make a secure gift online with a credit or debit card and include the name of the person you wish to memorialize or tribute and the contact information for anyone you wish us to notify of your gift.
  • To make a secure gift over the phone with a credit or debit card, please call the Foundation during regular business hours at 303-689-5251.

The Good Samaritan Foundation accepts gifts of real estate, including houses, condominiums, commercial properties, farm land, rental property, and undeveloped land after a thorough review of the property and its potential usage by the foundation. Prior to the acceptance of any parcel of real property, as a minimum, a Phase 1 environmental assessment of the potential environmental risks will be conducted. For all gifts of real estate, the Gift Acceptance Committee will review the results of such assessment and recommend to the appropriate administrators and Board Committees whether the gift should be accepted.

One way to boost your charitable contributions is to give shares of appreciated assets, including stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, art and real property.

They are easily valued without an appraisal, and easy to transfer. Donating appreciated securities before they are sold typically results in a tax advantage. A tax deduction is normally allowed based on the market value at the time of the gift. Since the deduction is based on current value, rather than cost, no tax is paid on the appreciation.

All gifts will be reviewed by the foundation’s Board of Directors for compliance with our policies before being accepted.

Good Samaritan Foundation participates in the North Metro Enterprise Zone Tax Credit program, which is an incredible opportunity!

  • Donors receive an additional 25% tax credit/benefit for qualifying donations (i.e. if a donor writes a check for $500, they will actually get a tax benefit as if they donated $625)
  • Gifts MUST be to one of four qualifying Medical Education Funds:
    • Respiratory Therapy Education
    • General Medical Education
    • Bush Family Scholarship (geared towards Associates not currently direct care providers wanting to become a lab tech, nurse, etc.)
    • Dave Hamm Scholarship (providing additional education for associates providing direct patient care)
