Making Your Pregnancy Care Easier

We offer online visit (telehealth) options. Telehealth may be right for you if:

  • It is hard for you to take time off for your prenatal visits.
  • You are worried about driving in harsh winter weather for a monthly check-up.
  • You are stressed about not having your family be involved in your maternity care.

If any of these apply to you, now you have a great option with telehealth.

Our mama's health is our top priority so we made it easier for women across western Colorado and eastern Utah to get the midwifery care they want.

We are so excited to announce Nest West

our new telehealth program where you can do pregnancy virtual visits from the comfort of your home

  • There are no known or foreseeable risks or physical discomforts associated with the Nest West program.
  • You receive the same level of care regardless of if you meet with a provider in the office or virtually.

Participants are responsible for purchasing a digital bathroom scale if they do not already own one. Participants are responsible to return all borrowed equipment in good working order at their two-week postpartum appointment.

  • Nest West is being carefully developed and implemented in collaboration with Mayo Clinic's OB Nest Connected Care team. According to Dr. Yvonne S. Butler Tobah, a senior associate consultant with Mayo Clinic's Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, the goal of the OB Nest model of care is to "shift our prenatal clinic's culture…to a wellness care model and to strengthen the autonomy, confidence, self-awareness, and empowerment of our patients." This goal is one that the Nest West program team also embraces.
  • The randomized controlled trial of OB Nest was conducted in 2014-2015 at the Mayo Clinic. The study successfully demonstrated that decreasing the average number of traditional prenatal care appointments from 12-14 per pregnancy to 8 traditional face-to-face visits (complemented with 4-6 virtual visits), was as safe as usual care and improved client satisfaction and pregnancy-related stress.

  • You have a pregnancy which is low risk, as determined by one of our certified nurse midwives.
  • You are less than 20 weeks pregnant when you enter the Nest West program.
  • You schedule a tour and orientation of the birth center. We will have one of our midwives speak with you at that time and to help determine your eligibility for the Nest West program.

Call the birth center and set up a free tour and orientation today. When you set up your appointment be sure to let us know that you are interested in the Nest West program so that we can take some time to go over it with you and see if it would be a good fit. Set up your free tour and orientation to get started.

  • All participants will borrow a fetal heart doppler, a bottle of transducer gel, a tape measure, and a digital blood pressure cuff from Bloomin' Babies. Each participant will be responsible to purchase or use their own digital bathroom scale. Each participant will also receive a journal to record their blood pressures, weights, fundal heights, and baby's heart rate on a weekly basis.
  • All participants will receive thorough instructions on how to accurately obtain these measurements when accepted into the Nest West program.
  • Participants will bring their journal to each traditional face-to-face prenatal visit and will have the journal available at each connected care or virtual visit.

  • At Bloomin' Babies Birth Center we want to use technology to deliver care that  supports our mamas, just like you!  The birth center is in front of other providers locally and on a national level for the use of telemedicine for pregnancy care.
  • Our goal with Nest West is to use modern technology to manage prenatal care so that we can meet mamas where they are at.

  • Keeping your face-to-face and connected care  virtual visits
  • Monitoring and recording your blood pressure, your baby's heartbeat, your weight, and the height of your uterus prior to your connected care visits.
  • Completing three satisfaction surveys: two during your pregnancy, and one at two weeks after birth.
  • Checking in to the Nest West social platform regularly - at least once before each virtual connected care visit.

  • You can do visits from the comfort of your home combined with normal office prenatal visits.
  • Virtual maternity visits make it easy for your partner and your children to be involved in your care.
  • Distance won’t keep you from getting the birth center care you are looking for.
  • For moms who have difficulty making all of their prenatal appointments in the office, this gives them a new option.
  • Virtual care visits are as easy-to-schedule as your office visits.

This is an opportunity for a Bloomin’ Babies Birth Center mama to do (4-6) of their regular monthly prenatal care visits virtually.
