  • Persistent or severe allergy symptoms (itchy eyes, sneezing, nasal congestion, etc.) that do not improve with over-the counter medications.
  • Frequent asthma attacks or difficulty controlling asthma symptoms.
  • Reactions to foods, medications, or insect stings that are concerning or life-threatening.

Seeking specialized care can help you find relief and improve your overall health.

The Difference Between an MD and DNP

At Lehi Allergy and Asthma Clinic, we are proud to have both medical doctors (MDs) and a DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice)  who specialize in allergy and asthma care. Here's a brief overview of their roles:

  • MD (Medical Doctor): An MD has completed medical school and a residency program, often followed by a fellowship in allergy and immunology. They are licensed to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medical conditions.
  • DNP stands for Doctor of Nursing Practice. It is a terminal (highest-level) professional degree in nursing, designed to prepare advanced practice nurses for leadership roles in clinical practice, healthcare administration, and policy. Unlike a research-focused PhD, the DNP emphasizes clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, and the application of research to improve patient outcomes. DNP programs include rigorous coursework in clinical theory, organizational leadership, and health policy, and typically require a scholarly project that addresses real-world healthcare challenges.

What is an FNP-C?

FNP-C stands for Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified. This credential indicates that the nurse practitioner has:

  • Specialized in family practice (caring for patients of all ages)
  • Met rigorous national standards
  • Passed a certification exam, usually administered by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Both MDs and NPs bring valuable expertise and perspectives to our clinic, ensuring comprehensive and holistic care for our patients.
