Spider veins are small, dilated (stretched) blood vessels close to the surface of the skin. They are usually small blue or purple veins with a branching pattern commonly found on the thigh, lower leg and face. They may be caused by damage from the sun, trauma to skin, genetics or Skin disorders. Spider veins are progressive in nature and usually increase in number and visibility with age.

Our Services

  • Sclerotherapy (endovenous chemical ablation) is a cosmetic procedure where a tiny needle injects a solution into problem veins causing it to collapse and fade from view. Treatment is recommended for legs and thighs and generally takes less than an hour to perform. Patients are awake during the procedure and can resume normal activity the same day.
  • Transdermal laser therapy. Treats tiny facial veins. Treatment sessions last about 30 minutes.

Spider vein treatment is recommended if:

  • Branching or web-like veins are visible on legs or thighs.
  • Branching veins are visible on face or nose and hard to conceal.

Evaluation

  • Our caregivers will conduct a thorough vein screening to ensure you receive the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

Following treatment, the skin may be red and swollen and will require icing to reduce the local inflammation. Treated vessels may look darker for a few days before they begin to fade and disappear. The spider veins will slowly resolve over about 4 weeks. For best results, multiple sessions-spaced at four weeks apart may be necessary.
