Endovenous Laser Ablation

This in office procedure focuses on the great saphenous vein. We treat the vain with laser energy and may be performed with Microphlebectomy.

  • Patients may resume normal activities in 24 hours
  • No strenuous activity for 3 days
  • There is mild pain. 2-5 day follow-up with ultrasound
  • Use of compression stockings minimum of 2 weeks

Microphlebectomy

Microphlebectomy is a hospital or office procedure where we surgically remove a branch varicosities in the leg.

  • Limit strenuous activities for 1 week, with gradual return to normal activities
  • Office follow-up in 2-4 weeks
  • Mild to moderate pain

Vein Stripping

Vein stripping is an out-patient hospital procedure where we surgically remove the great saphenous vein. This procedure may be performed with microphlebectomy.

  • Limit strenuous activity for 1-2 weeks, then gradually return to aerobic exercise
  • 1-2 office follow-up
  • Moderate pain

Chemical Ablation

A liquid solution is injected into "spider veins". A foam solution is then injected into larger veins.

  • Minimal pain
  • Limit strenuous exercise for 3 days
  • Minimum of 3 days wearing compression stockings
  • Not covered by insurance
