The Sanpete Valley Hospital Labor and Delivery team believes each birth at our hospital is special and unique, much like the mothers and babies themselves. So, we work with each individual mom’s birth plan. From natural (un-medicated) deliveries to medicated, our team of nurses are trained in research-based practices to support you as you welcome your little one into the world.

The Birthing Experience

Our goal is to help each mom have a positive birthing experience with us. Please explain your preferences for labor and delivery, so we can accommodate your needs and birth plan whenever possible. Keep in mind that because labor and delivery is a dynamic process, situations can change quickly, requiring modifications to your plan to ensure the health and safety of both you and your baby.

Your Birthing Room: The LDRP Suite

Our two Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) suites allow moms to remain in the same room for labor, delivery, recovery, and the remainder of your maternity stay with us. Our suites include:

  • Jetted tubs for laboring moms
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Large-screen TVs
  • Sleeping accommodations for fathers/coaches

Our new surgical center also provides operating room suites which are available for moms who require operative deliveries or for those with high-risk pregnancies, such as those delivering multiples.

Medical Professionals on Hand

A physician/obstetrician is on call 24/7 to help with needs before, during, or after labor and delivery. We also have nurse anesthetists on staff to help with epidurals, pain control, or emergency situations.

Working with You Through Labor and Delivery

Our team of caregivers will carefully monitor you as you labor. We will communicate your progress with your obstetrician/physician who will help direct your care. Once it’s time to deliver your baby, equipment will be brought into the room, and your physician and nurses will work with you to bring your little one into the world.

After the birth of your baby, we encourage skin-to-skin for every delivery, including scheduled Cesarean sections. Our team then provides lactation support and education to support you in breastfeeding your little one.
