Primary Children's Hospital is a nationally ranked academic pediatric medical center currently serving six states – Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, and Alaska.

Residencies & Internships

Our 289-bed facility is equipped and staffed to treat children with complex illness and injury, and many medical students complete post-graduate training at Primary Children's Hospital through internships and residency rotations. 

Additionally, we have residencies and internship opportunities in other areas such as nursing, expressive therapies, and child life.

Many career opportunities are available in the field of healthcare, and Primary Children’s Hospital provides programs to help support students in their educational pursuits. Approximately 2,000 student placements are made annually at Primary Children's Hospital. Placements are made through many different schools throughout Utah as well as nationally — in fact, students from approximately 35 to 40 different colleges and universities come to Primary Children’s Hospital each year. Here students from a variety of disciplines and areas of practice are able to job shadow, complete rotations, or intern for credit with their school. Student Placement Requirements

In order to qualify for placement at Primary Children’s Hospital, you must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years of age. Placement is dependant upon availability of clinical slots, which are subject to shift variance and clinical location. Department managers will determine placement availability per semester. (Managers will work directly with the Student Placement Coordinator when allocating slots).
