Immunology

The Pediatric Immunology Clinic at Primary Children’s Hospital, along with the inpatient immunology service, have provided outpatient and inpatient consultation for more than 400 patients with suspected primary immunodeficiency since its inception in 2020.

As part of the Pediatric Immunology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplant/Cellular therapy program, this service offers comprehensive evaluations and consultations for children and adolescents with problems involving the immune system.

The clinic also serves as the primary referral center for care of patients with primary immunodeficiency in the intermountain region as well as the main contact for further management following an abnormal newborn screen for severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) in Utah and Nevada.

When a diagnosis of a primary immunodeficiency is made, further outpatient or inpatient care is provided through our service, including stem cell transplantation when indicated. We collaborate with other services including hematology, rheumatology, allergy and immunology, pulmonology, and gastroenterology to serve this patient population.
