Frequently asked questions

Learn more about about E-visits

E-Visits are currently available to adults (18+) with their own Intermountain Health patient portal account (no proxies). E-Visits are for those with basic medical concerns listed in the Common Conditions Treated section above.

Our providers should review and respond with a treatment plan (or escalate to an appropriate level of care) within two hours.

You can select to pay with cash, or have your insurance billed. The Intermountain Health app will confirm your insurance to be sure you are eligible and will bill any charges following your visit. If you have received a charge and don’t feel it is appropriate, please contact the Connect Care billing department at 801-906-2800.

Some conditions require a video visit, lab test, or in-person visit to determine a diagnosis. The Intermountain Health app uses protocols reviewed by our providers to help determine those who can be treated with an E-Visit. If our providers can’t treat you, you will NOT be charged and we’ll refer you to a more appropriate location to treatment for your symptoms.

An Intermountain urgent care provider will review your symptoms and create a treatment plan for you. The plan will be sent to you in the Intermountain Health patient portal and stored in your medical record.

E-Visits are available on most Select Health commercial plans (non-Medicare/Medicaid/CHIP). Please reach out to your insurer if you have any questions.

E-Visits are designed for a specific group of common medical conditions, and we aim to complete as many as possible. However, based on your personal medical history or condition the provider may feel it appropriate to escalate you to another form of care, such as a video visit, urgent care, or visit with your primary care provider.
