The Pediatric Dental Residency Program is a hospital-based certificate program located at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. The program combines an emphasis on clinical proficiency as well as the interdisciplinary approach to treating pediatric dental patients.

Program Overview

The Primary Children’s Hospital Pediatric Dental Residency is a 24-month program beginning July 1 each year. Our hospital-based certificate program accepts two residents each year.
 
The program combines an emphasis on clinical proficiency as well as the interdisciplinary approach to treating the pediatric dental patient and is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Education. Dentists who complete the program will receive a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and meet the advanced education eligibility requirements of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). 
The program prepares its graduates for specialty practice.


How to Apply

Applications for the Pediatric Dentistry residency program must be submitted through the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) PASS program (Postdoctoral Application Support Service). ADEA PASS simplifies the application process by allowing you to complete one standardized application, rather than individual applications to each program. There is a fee for this service. The application deadline is every  year on September 15.

The Match is used by applicants and programs to determine the final placement of applicants into positions after the application and evaluation process is completed. Current Residents

Emily Austin: After growing up in Portland, Oregon, Emily moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah for her undergraduate and dental degrees. During her 9 years in Utah, she fell in love with the beautiful mountains and outdoor adventures that Utah has to offer, so she was ecstatic to be able to stay in Salt Lake City for residency. Emily loves hikes and walks with her husband, Dominic, and their dog, Zilla. Following an afternoon outdoors, Emily and Dominic also enjoy spending their evenings playing video games together.

Taylor Ginsberg: Taylor was born and raised in South Florida. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Human Development & Family Studies and a minor in Biology. Taylor earned her dental degree at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health and is excited to use that degree, as well as her passion, to care for the pediatric population moving forward. She loves animals, especially her Siberian cat, Stevie. Taylor loves going to concerts, collecting vinyls, skiing, and exploring different coffee shops!

Hanna Brashier: Hanna grew up in a small town in Northern Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a bioengineering degree and went on to pursue her dreams at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has always had a passion for children and healthcare. Hanna loves animals, especially her dog, Vinny! She enjoys skiing and is a huge foodie!

Jacob Foncea: Born in Boston, MA, Jacob spent much of his life in the southeast. In 2018, he graduated from Samford University with a B.A. in English before moving to Memphis, TN to attend UTHSC’s College of Dentistry. During dental school, Jacob realized his passion for pediatric dentistry and ultimately decided to pursue it as a specialty. He has long been a fan of Salt Lake City and is thrilled to live here for residency. Jacob enjoys exercising, snowboarding, and being outdoors, but he is most likely to be found reading a good book, walking his rescue dog, or spending quality time with his wife and one-year-old daughter.
