Intermountain is hosting Questival Adventure Races for caregivers this spring

Questival

Intermountain is teaming up with Utah outdoor gear company Cotopaxi this spring to bring their popular Questival events to caregivers. A Questival is an adventure race that invites individuals or teams of up to six caregivers to complete challenges aimed to “LiVe Well” and “Do Good” over the course of six days.

Intermountain CEO Marc Harrison, MD, says the idea of caregiver Questivals was the result of a brainstorming session with him, Heather Brace, chief people officer, and Cotopaxi CEO Davis Smith.

“Cotopaxi is a big supporter of ours; we worked with them in 2019 for the Caregiver Appreciation Week gift and in 2020 for face masks,” Marc says. “They recognize the impact each of you have on our communities through the patient care and service you provide every day. This was even more apparent through the COVID-19 pandemic. We wanted to do something fun, while challenging people to fulfill our missions: to live the healthiest lives possible, and to do good.”

Here’s when Questivals are happening.

  • Utah County—April 18 to 23: Kick-off event will be April 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. MT at Utah Valley Hospital.
  • Nevada—April 25 to 30: Kick-off event will be April 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. PT at the Nevada Central Office.
  • Southern Utah—April 26 to May 1: Kick-off event will be April 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. MT at St. George Regional Hospital.
  • Salt Lake Valley—May 2 to 7: Kick-off event will be May 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. MT at Intermountain Medical Center.
  • Northern Utah/Idaho—May 9 to 14: Kick-off event will be May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. MT at McKay-Dee Hospital.

You don’t have to live in the geography listed to participate in a Questival. Questival challenges can be completed from wherever you are, so sign up for an adventure race that fits your schedule. Challenges include things like making llama pancakes, going on a walk with your dog, getting a gun lock from Community Health, or volunteering at your favorite local non-profit organization. Each Questival will be launched with a kick-off event on the first day of the race—an open house style celebration with free food, prizes, pre-race challenges, music, lawn games, and more. Even if you don’t participate in a Questival, you’re invited to attend a kick-off event near you.

To participate, register for the Questival adventure race near you. After you register, you’ll receive additional instructions about how to download the Questival app and important dates to remember. Then you’ll need to recruit fellow caregivers—up to six people per team—and have them register online, too, to form a team. You can also participate in a Questival solo. Registration will be available onsite at kick-off events as well.

“Questivals serve a dual purpose,” Heather says. “While we want to engage caregivers of all ages and backgrounds across the organization in activities that support both personal well-being and community engagement, we also want to do something normal to connect and celebrate with each other on the flipside of the pandemic. The past two years have been challenging for everyone, inside and outside of work, and it’s time to have some fun.”

As a thank you for registering, caregivers who pre-register by the dates listed on the Questival website will receive a Cotopaxi Del Dia Dopp Kit when they attended the kick-off event for their race. Each Questival participant whose team earns 150 points by completing challenges during their Questival will receive a Cotopaxi Allpa Travel Pack. Each person on the top three scoring teams for each Questival will receive a Cotopaxi gift card.

More information about Questivals like FAQs, how to participate, and registration details can be found on the Questival website.

“We launched Questivals in 2014 and I have watched thousands of people participate in do-good challenges across the country,” Davis says. “If there was ever a time for each of us to focus on living well and doing good, it’s right now—today. I hope you’ll take an opportunity to participate and have some fun while doing it. Thank you for everything that you do.”

Note, because of the timing of Questivals, Caregiver Appreciation Week will move to June. Instead of being in May, this year’s Caregiver Appreciation Week will be June 5 to 11.
