Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 may appear two to fourteen days after exposure and can include:
The severity of COVID-19 symptoms can range from very mild to severe. Some people have no symptoms. People who are older or have existing chronic medical conditions, such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, may be at higher risk of serious illness. This is similar to what is seen with other respiratory illnesses, such as influenza.
Severe symptoms: If you, your child, or someone you are with is experiencing difficulty breathing and extreme shortness of breath; new confusion or inability to waken/arouse; bluish lips or face; or any other symptoms of a medical emergency, call 911.
Intermountain Healthcare can provide COVID-19 testing for people traveling to destinations requiring a negative test result. Over 90% of COVID-19 test results are available within 48 hours from when you had your specimen collected. We recommend checking My Health+ to access your test results 1 to 2 days after your test, and then continuing to check until your result is available.
Please be aware of the testing requirements of your specific travel destination. If you do not have a test result before traveling you may be required to self-quarantine upon arrival until your result is available, or you may be denied entry at your destination. Intermountain is aware of at least one testing provider in Utah that offers rapid COVID-19 tests for travel. If you need faster results for urgent travel, please visit coronavirus.utah.gov to find a location that offers this service.
Please work closely with your health insurance provider to know whether the cost of testing is covered for travel. If it is not, you may be responsible for the cost of the test.
Find out if you should be tested by using the online symptom checker. If you qualify for a test you will be asked to reserve an arrival window for a specific location. Individuals must have an ARRIVAL WINDOW scheduled before traveling to one of the sample collection locations. Individuals who walk-up/drive-up to a location and who do not have an arrival window reserved will not be tested.
If you have an upcoming procedure which requires a COVID-19 test, please read our pre-procedure instructions.
Intermountain conducts mobile COVID-19 testing throughout Utah and Idaho. This helps increase access for underserved populations and while maintaining the stay home, stay safe percentage. The mobile unit will also be used in hotspot areas of increased COVID-19 positive tests and where increased testing is needed.
