The Nelles Nurse Program was created in 2002 by the Ralph Nelles Family. The Nelles Nurse program supports our medical community, ensuring we maintain the highest healthcare standards and retain outstanding nurses and medical professionals in Montana.
The Nelles Nurse Program provides scholarships to student nurses during their schooling, allowing them to work directly out of nursing school at St. Vincent Regional Hospital. The program also provides financial support to medical professionals at St. Vincent Regional Hospital looking to advance their medical skills and knowledge. Recently, this program funded the transformation of the Mansfield Center Library into a hands-on, working laboratory for medical professionals to work on dummies in real time, honing their medical skills.

The Thomas R. Johnson, M.D. Medical Scholarship is a tribute to the late Dr. Thomas R. Johnson.
Dr. Johnson was a renowned orthopedic surgeon and academic physician leader who provided a special focus on rural patients.
Both his father and mother practiced medicine in Montana, and Dr. Johnson remained committed to patients throughout the region surrounding Billings.
Dr. Robert Snider was instrumental in the development of the exemplary orthopedic program at St. Vincent Regional Hospital.
As President of the St. Vincent Regional Hospital medical staff, Dr. Snider chose to lead by example.
His academic, research and writing interests around orthopedic medicine are still highly regarded among his peers and his ability to connect with each patient for whom he cared was renowned.
