Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to understand the role and responsibilities, as well as review the professional and clinical expectations of an Intermountain APC. As well as, to help familiarize new APCs with resources that contribute to successful practice and personal learning needs specific to his or her department. This will help foster an opportunity to share knowledge and resources with other Intermountain APCs.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss bylaws, privileging, and scope of practice: following the rules.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Electronic Medical Records: tools for success.
  • Complete required clinical documentation: maximizing communication to payers & colleagues.
  • Contribute to the mission: leadership, mentoring, education and professional development.
  • Describe clinical support: principles guiding routine practice. For example: writing Rx and lab orders, core measures of clinical competence, and compliance.

Target Audience

APCs with hospital privileges. While employee-focused, this course is recommended for all privileged APCs.
