Social-emotional Learning Group and FREE Strengths-based Parenting Group at Mount Saint Vincent

Our Pediatric Behavioral Health's Outpatient Therapy program is now offering a Social-emotional Learning Group for children ages five to eight years starting Wednesday, January 21, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In conjunction with this group, we will offer a FREE strengths-based Parenting Group at the same time. This group is for parents, caregivers and foster parents.

What is social-emotional learning?

Social-emotional learning is learning based on the development and application of social and emotional skills related to managing emotions, understanding self, being in a relationship, and making healthy decisions.

Why is it important?

Children who experience healthy social-emotional learning often show improved academic performance, decreased anxiety and depression, more positive stress management, and improved relationship skills.

What is a social-emotional learning group?

A group that integrates social and emotional skills in a specific setting. It's a targeted time to help children learn through intentional activities from clinicians who are experts in child and social-emotional development. Some skills include:

  • Waiting your turn
  • Dealing with being mad
  • Understanding showing empathy

Group Details:

Date & Time

We will hold eight consecutive groups on Wednesdays starting January 21, 2026. Weekly sessions will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with an arrival time no later than 3:45 p.m.

Group Size & Ages

A licensed professional counselor and a licensed clinical social worker will lead 10 children ages five to eight years (kindergarten to second grade).

Insurance Accepted

Our Admissions Team will help you confirm insurance prior to your child's first session. We accept most major plans and Medicaid.
