The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at LDS Hospital is one of only two programs in the Intermountain West to provide highly specialized care for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other forms of blood cancer. During their months-long course of treatment, BMT patients are immunosuppressed, must remain isolated from infection risk, and can live no more than 60 minutes away from the hospital in case they need specialized emergency care. For about 30 percent of BMT patients, this means relocating to Salt Lake City for an extended period. This requirement adds to the already heavy emotional and financial burden these patients face.

We have five Healing Homes on campus in various sizes to accommodate patients and their families who qualify to stay during their treatment.

The purpose of the Healing Homes is to provide a convenient and affordable housing option to BMT patients and help LDS Hospital fulfill its role as a steward of the community and its mission to help people live the healthiest lives possible.
