Residents in the Utah Valley Family Practice Residency are supervised by a faculty of board certified family medicine physicians and specialists who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the program, including an emphasis in ambulatory care, preventive medicine, and wellness.
 

Rob Mehl, DO

Rob Mehl, DO

Residency Program Director
Dr. Mehl was born and raised in Saugus, California. He went to Brigham Young University for his undergraduate degree and graduated with a bachelor's in neuroscience. He completed family medicine residency at Utah Valley and then worked in a rural clinic in Pittsfield, Illinois, for four and a half years before returning to the residency to be faculty. In 2016 he was named the residency program director. His clinical interests include diabetes (particularly insulin pumps), sports medicine and geriatrics. Dr. Mehl and his wife Becky have two daughters. He enjoys running, sports, hiking, and any activity that involves water. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

Sarah Daly, DO

Residency Assistant Director
Dr. Daly is originally from Canton, Ohio. She graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a bachelor's in biology. In 2006, she graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a 2009 graduate of the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency and a former chief resident. Her professional interests include women's health, obstetrics, pediatrics, and behavioral medicine. She is actively involved with clinical research. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging, hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Scott Black, MD

Dr. Black grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He graduated with a bachelors degree in history from Utah Valley University. He then graduated from Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his residency training at the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency and then worked for three years in a rural health clinic in La Pine, OR before returning to the residency as a faculty member. He enjoys playing basketball, snow skiing, mountain biking, and hanging out with his amazing wife and four awesome kids.

Nicole Clark, MD

Dr. Clark is a 2002 graduate of the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency and a former chief resident. Her professional interests include women's health, obstetrics, pediatrics, and general medicine. In her time off, Dr. Clark enjoys movies, walking the Provo River Parkway, and cooking. Dr. Clark has served as the South Region Intermountain Healthcare Hospice Director. She recently completed a Geriatrics Fellowship and is a Board certified Geriatrician.

Marlin Christianson, MD

Marlin Christianson, MD

Residency Faculty
Dr. Marlin Christianson, MD was born in Gainesville, Florida. He attended Timpview High school in Provo, Utah, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1990 with a bacherlor's in microbiology. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1994. Dr. Christianson completed a family practice internship and residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California, in 1997, and a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship for family physicians in 1999-2000, at Florida Hospital in Orlando. He spent 11 years as a physician with the Navy, stationed in Guam, San Diego, and Naples, Italy. Dr. Christianson is married to LaDonn Robins. They have five children. He enjoys hiking, fishing, sports, science fiction, and music.

Dr. Springer is a 2001 graduate of the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program. She practices in Orem and remains involved in the program as part-time faculty. She has been on Intermountain's Board of Trustees and is vice-chair of Medical Group Board. Dr. Springer's professional interests include pediatrics, orthopedics, acute care, office-based procedures and women's health. She enjoys spending her free time with her family, baking, and "car" camping.

Bradley Edgington, PhD

Bradley Edgington, PhD

Behavioral Medicine Director
Dr. Edgington is originally from southeastern Idaho. He completed his PhD in counseling psychology from Brigham Young University in 1985. He has worked extensively treating mood and anxiety disorders, as well as other mental health conditions, in a medical setting. Dr. Edgington has directed the Medical Staff Well-Being program in the Urban South Region of Intermountain Healthcare since 2002. He has helped many physicians and medical groups optimize their own health in order to better serve their patients. He and his wife Stacey enjoy spending time with their five children and their charming grandchildren.

Matt Eastman, DO

Dr. Matt Eastman is a Utah native. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1994 with a degree in physical education, with a sports medicine emphasis. He attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1999. He completed a family medicine residency training at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. He served as a US Navy physician in Guam and North Carolina. Since completing his service in the Navy in 2005, Dr. Eastman has worked as a family physician in several capacities, most recently in Intermountain’s InstaCare network. Dr. Eastman is interested in all aspects of primary care medicine and is excited to return to full scope family medicine and take on a teaching role. He and his wife, Kim, have three children and one beautiful granddaughter. He enjoys watching Major League Baseball and playing golf.
