Personal Bio & Interests
Well before obtaining a medical degree, I became interested in health and nutrition. I correlated regular exercise, healthy eating habits & stress management with general well-being and with optimal digestive health. I was aware that unhealthy habits, poor sleep and emotional stress could wreak havoc on gastrointestinal tract function. Accordingly, I take a holistic approach to the diagnosis & treatment of digestive health issues. And I am a strong believer in prevention... i.e. the value of screening colonoscopy to prevent colon cancer cannot be underestimated. Female gastroenterologists are uncommon, and it is a privilege to be a woman in this field. Although I see male patients too, the majority of my patients are women simply because many women prefer female physicians. I therefore specialize in digestive health issues that are common in women, such as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), acid reflux, heartburn, bloating and chronic constipation. I also specialize in colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD). I perform around 1000 colonoscopies per year. In my limited free time I enjoy being a mom, running, weight training & spending time with my mini Australian shepherd.
