Breast lifts are becoming an increasingly common way to enhance breast shape. Breast lifts have grown 70% since 2000, outpacing breast implants 2-to-1. Surgeons at Intermountain Southern Utah Plastic Surgery use a breast lift to give breasts a more youthful shape and firmness.

WHAT IS A BREAST LIFT?A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, raises the breasts to give them a more natural appearance. A woman's breasts often change over time, losing skin elasticity due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging, gravity or genetics. Breast lifts rejuvenate breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. This reshapes and supports the new breast contour. A breast life can also reduce the size of the areola, which can become enlarged over time

HOW IS A BREAST LIFT PROCEDURE DONE? Medical techniques to lift the breast vary depending on the patient’s desired outcome. A doctor may make incisions: around the areola, both around the areola and vertically down the areola to the center of the breast crease in a “lollipop lift” or horizontally along the breast creases.

WHAT A BREAST LIFT CAN’T DO? A breast lift will not add volume or roundness to the top part of the breasts. If you desire a fuller, higher breast, consider a surgery that couples a breast lift with a breast augmentation.
