When your sleep is disrupted, it’s not always easy to understand why. At Utah Valley Hospital’s Sleep Testing Center, you’ll be evaluated in a safe, comfortable environment designed to study what’s happening in your body throughout the night. By monitoring your breathing, movement, and natural sleep patterns, a sleep test can identify potential causes for snoring, fatigue, or other nighttime concerns. With this insight, you can take steps toward deeper, more restorative sleep and better overall health.
How to Get a Sleep Test
If you think a sleep test may help you understand what’s going on at night, talk with your primary care physician to get a referral. They’ll evaluate your symptoms and, if appropriate, refer you to our Sleep Testing Center for a sleep test. Overnight sleep studies are available every night except on holidays.
When Is a Sleep Test Recommended?
A Sleep Test may be recommended for patients experiencing:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Loud snoring or gasping for air
- Difficulty staying asleep
- Unusual movements or behaviors during sleep (such as sleepwalking or periodic limb movements)
- Unexplained fatigue or poor concentration
- Witnessed pauses in breathing during sleep
