A concussion happens when a sudden jolt or blow to the head disturbs the way your brain works. This disturbance can make you feel confused, disoriented, or dazed. It may also cause you to lose consciousness or to have memory loss (amnesia) about things that happened around the time of your injury.
Concussion symptoms usually develop in the first few days after an injury. You may not notice problems until you return to school, work, or your daily life. For many people, symptoms resolve within a few days or weeks. Common symptoms include:
