About us

The Supply Chain Organization (SCO) primarily has four area of operations: Category Management, Purchasing, Logistics and Materials Management, Support Services and Business Programs and Services.

Procurement Management. Where sourcing, sustainable procurement, relationship management, and support operations come together. Category Management includes:

Our fulfillment center

Our state-of-the-art Fulfillment Center is 191,000 square feet of a secure, climate-controlled environment that is operational 24 hours a day 365 days of the year. Supported by leaders, it opened in 2012 to take advantage of being our own distributor to:

  • Gain control of product flow. 
  • Provide supply assurance in times of market disruption 
  • Set and follow best practices through our people, technology, and innovation.
  • Create/build better supplier relationships. 
  • Create a platform for logistically aligned services. 
  • Allow facilities to order by the each. 
  • Eliminate much of the redundant inventory at facilities. 
  • Carry over 5,000 strategically selected items destined for our hospitals and clinics. 
  • Deliver more than two million medical supplies annually. 
  • Cold supply chain capabilities expanding availability of refrigerated items.

Intermountain Health’s supply chain organization, (SCO) strives to provide quality products and work with suppliers who have a commitment to process improvement, cost management, and customer service.

Sustainability Commitment

Surplus items for sale

The Supply Chain Organization's Asset Recovery works with all of Intermountain Healthcare's surplus items. Place an order for surplus hospital items for sale.

Intermountain policy requires our caregivers to engage with the SCO before contracting with any new supplier.  Products, equipment, and/or services that are not contracted or approved by Intermountain in advance and in writing are not allowed and Intermountain may refuse payment for such items. Suppliers that introduce non-contracted items could be sanctioned from all Intermountain facilities for up to 90 days or permanently.

In April of 2021, Intermountain Healthcare signed a 10-year membership agreement with Vizient, a group purchasing organization, with whom we collaborate.
