iAct is our Intermountain Health caregiver volunteer impact match program, designed to encourage caregivers to give back to their communities.
At Intermountain, we refer to all our 64,000 employees as caregivers, whether their work involves providing patient care or greeting people who walk in our doors.
This substantial number of caregivers gives us the unique ability to accomplish a great deal through their strength and service.
iAct empowers our caregivers to sign up for eligible volunteer opportunities, track their time, and earn community cash points for each hour volunteered.
Caregivers can then donate these points to a qualified nonprofit cause of their choice. In 2023, our caregivers volunteered 52,125 hours, that is more than nine years of volunteer hours.
They also earned $285,000 in community cash, which was donated to community organizations.
Other facts of note:
- 408 different causes were impacted by caregiver volunteer activities
- Three homes built or remodeled with Habitat for Humanity
- At least 2,269 blood donations with the Red Cross
- 100 trees planted. Check out the Instagram post
- 40 teams participated in a volunteer activity together
Megan Mahncke, Intermountain Health's Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and President of the Intermountain Community Care Foundation said, “Beyond the care we provide, we also have incredible caregivers who take part in our iAct program. Through hands-on service and financial support, we’re meeting the needs of the communities we serve. Our caregivers are leaving a lasting impression, not soon forgotten by our caregivers or the people whose lives are shaped by them.”
