Saint Joseph Hospital Department of Pharmacy is currently recruiting for 3 pharmacy residents (PGY-1). The resident candidate should be highly motivated and an effective communicator. Hospital Pharmacy experience is desired, but not required. The candidate must be licensed in the State of Colorado to practice pharmacy. The residency has been accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

The philosophy of this pharmacy practice program is to challenge the resident to achieve not only their individual goals but to become a more complete and well-rounded professional who appreciates that a successful career requires a life-long commitment to learning.

Estimated Stipend: $47,840

Required Rotations:

  • Orientation (4 weeks)
  • Internal Medicine 1 (6 weeks)
  • Internal Medicine 2 (6 weeks)
  • Emergency Department (4 weeks)
  • Critical Care (6 weeks)
  • Infectious Disease/Cystic Fibrosis (6 weeks)
  • Periop/Surgery/Pain Management (6 weeks)

Longitudinal Rotations:

  • Ambulatory care anticoagulation clinic
  • Administration
  • Research

Elective Rotations (6 weeks total):

  • Oncology
  • NICU
  • Neurology
  • Repeat any required rotation

Certification and Educational Opportunities:

  • Medical resident conferences
  • ACLS certification (provided free of cost to pharmacy residents)
  • Teaching Certificate through the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy
  • ASPIRE Research Certificate through Kaiser Permanente

Staffing:
The residents will participate in the staffing of the pharmacy every third weekend. Generally, staffing will be an eight hour shift on Saturday and Sunday. The staffing requirement for the residency is not considered a major focus, but provides a valuable development experience.
