Pre-operative Education for Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery

This class will prepare you for your weight loss surgery journey from the pre-surgery phase to lifelong support following your surgery.

Surgical procedures for weight loss include: Gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y), gastric sleeve, duodenal switch

Items covered will include:

• Pre-operative diet
• Pre-operative labs and screening
• What to expect in the hospital
• Post-operative staged diet
• Supplemental vitamins and minerals
• Exercise
• Required behavior changes
• Steps to be successful
• Lifelong follow-up with physician
• Support through the Live Well program and Weight Loss Support Group

Intermountain Healthcare has 3 accredited centers of excellence through the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and two new locations aiming toward accreditation for Gastric Sleeve procedures. 

Locations include: 

• LDS Hospital, SLC UT (Seminar's and Pre-op classes are held through the physicians offices only)
• Utah Valley Hospital (UVH), Provo UT - Register for the online class
• St. George Regional Hospital (SGRH), St. George UT - Register for the online class
• Sevier Hospital - Richfield, UT  - Register for in person or online class
• Cassia Regional Hospital - Burley, ID  - Register for the online class
