    What is a midwife?

Midwives are advanced practice clinicians who provide women with personalized primary, sexual, and reproductive health care throughout every stage of life.

With graduate-level education and national certification, they can prescribe medications, order tests, and diagnose and treat many health concerns.

While OB-GYNs have additional medical and surgical training to manage complex conditions, midwives often focus on routine reproductive, pregnancy, and birth care, working with OB-GYNs when specialized care is needed.

    Women's health concerns FAQs

Find trusted answers to common women’s health questions and concerns at every stage of life.

A well-woman exam typically includes a review of your health history, discussion of current concerns, routine health screenings, and preventive care recommendations. Depending on your age and health needs, your provider may perform a breast exam, pelvic exam, Pap test, or other screenings designed to support your long-term health and wellness.
Not always. The frequency of Pap tests depends on your age, health history, and previous screening results. Your provider will recommend a cervical cancer screening schedule based on current clinical guidelines and your individual risk factors.
Women's health providers can help you choose a birth control method that fits your lifestyle and health goals. Options may include birth control pills, patches, injections, vaginal rings, intrauterine devices (IUDs), implants, and permanent contraception. Your provider can explain the benefits and considerations of each option.
Breast cancer screening recommendations vary based on age, family history, and personal risk factors. Your provider can help determine when to begin screening and how often you should have mammograms or other breast health evaluations.
Women's health specialists provide personalized care for menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, sleep difficulties, and vaginal dryness. Treatment options may include lifestyle recommendations, hormone therapy, non-hormonal medications, and other supportive therapies.

    Pregnancy FAQs

Get answers to common pregnancy questions, from prenatal visits and birth planning to postpartum recovery.

You should schedule your first prenatal visit as soon as you know you're pregnant. This usually happens around 6 to 8 weeks and may include an ultrasound to check your due date.
Our team offers many services like annual exams, Pap smears, birth control, prenatal care, labor and delivery, menopause support, and treatment for women’s health conditions.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) is for high-risk pregnancies. You might need it if you have gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, twins or more, or past pregnancy problems.
The NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) helps newborns who are premature, have low birth weight, or need special care. Our team works closely with the NICU to care for your baby.
Yes! Your provider will talk with you about your birth plan, including vaginal delivery, C-section, or VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and help you choose what’s safest.
Bring your insurance card, a list of medications, and any medical records. It’s also good to write down any questions or symptoms you want to talk about.
A birthing tub is a specially designed tub that allows you to labor in warm water. Many women find that using a birthing tub helps promote relaxation, ease discomfort during contractions, and support a more natural birth experience.
Yes. Birthing tubs are available for eligible patients who would like to incorporate water immersion into their birth experience. Your care team can help determine whether a birthing tub is a safe option based on your pregnancy, labor progress, and birth plan.
