Helping you regain strength and confidence
Recovering from a sudden or life‑changing event can feel overwhelming. Our team is here to guide you with compassion, clear communication, and therapies that support your healing every step of the way. We offer:
- Physical therapy. We help you safely improve balance, strength, coordination, and mobility so everyday movement feels possible again.
- Occupational therapy. We support you in relearning daily tasks — from dressing to cooking — so you can feel more independent and in control.
- Speech‑language pathology. Our therapists help with communication, memory, thinking skills, and swallowing, making daily interactions safer and less stressful.
- Rehabilitation nursing. Our nurses teach you about medications, symptoms, and self‑care routines so you feel more confident managing your health.
- Social work and care management. We help you navigate the emotional and practical parts of recovery, from hospital planning to getting the right support at home.
- Dietitian support. Good nutrition is essential to healing. Our dietitians work with you to build strength and energy during recovery.
- Physiatry (rehab physician) care. Your rehab physician oversees your medical needs and recovery plan, making sure your care stays coordinated and effective.
- Additional medical services. If you need specialized support — like neuropsychology, respiratory therapy, wound care, prosthetics, orthotics, or dialysis — we bring those experts to you.

What to expect during your stay and other FAQs
Get clear answers to common questions about your stay, therapies, and what to expect during inpatient rehabilitation.
During your stay, you will receive medical, nursing and therapy care every day. At least 5 days a week, you will receive more intensive therapy services – at least 3 hours – scheduled with rest breaks, if you need. On the other days, you will still receive therapy, but less intensively. Our services are provided every day, including weekends and holidays.
While on the unit, your rehabilitation plan may include a variety of treatments, services and locations, such as:
- Individual therapy with one or, on occasions, two therapists at the same time
- Therapy with one or more other patients to allow you to practice new skills and interact with others who have similar needs
- Therapy and/or meetings with a family member or other representative of your choice to ensure that everyone is ready for your return home
- Practice in areas that simulates your home, like a kitchen or bathroom
- A visit to your own home, if you live near the hospital. This can be helpful for you to practice how you will get in or out of your home, bathroom, kitchen and other areas of your home
- A visit to a local community business or site, such as a grocery store, bank or park to practice your new skills in the real world
- Use of new and familiar technology resources such as high-tech rehabilitation equipment, computers, smart phones and other devices to help you when you return home
For most patients, your hospital physician and care team will recommend that you be evaluated for inpatient rehabilitation services.
One of our specialists – a rehab liaison – will visit with you and review your medical records. If you might benefit from our care, the liaison will discuss this with you, your family or representative, your current care team, the inpatient care team, and your insurance company, if appropriate. Some insurance companies require that we pre-authorize your stay to ensure that it meets certain criteria.
While many of our patients are referred while in the hospital, we also receive referrals for patients who are currently in a care facility or even at home.
Comfortable clothes work best for rehab. Please leave valuable items at home.
We suggest about four changes of clothing, including the following:
- Glasses, hearing aids, dentures - anything you need to function on a day-to-day basis as those are the activities our therapists will be working on with you
- Shorts or loose-fitting pants, T-shirts or blouses, tennis shoes, and a light jacket or sweater
- Sleepwear if you prefer your own, or we can furnish hospital gown/pants
- Any personal items that will make your stay more comfortable, such as photos, or a blanket.
We want family members, or others that you choose to represent you, to be a part of your care. We invite them, with your permission, to participate in therapy sessions and visit regularly so everyone can be prepared for your return home.
Sometimes, depending on distance or public health conditions, we are unable to have everyone come to the hospital. In these instances, we will work with you and your loved ones to find other ways to connect using the phone or video calls.
