Intermountain Transplant Services is the most comprehensive adult and pediatric abdominal thoracic and bone marrow transplant program and has the largest organ donor allocation program in Utah. The program includes kidney transplant, liver transplant, pancreas transplant, heart transplant and the artificial heart program, all of which are located at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
In addition to our solid organ transplant program, Intermountain Transplant Services include the blood and marrow transplant/acute leukemia program at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Pediatric transplants are performed at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
History of Our Program
In 1983, Intermountain Healthcare performed Utah's first solid-organ transplant at LDS Hospital, when a sister donated one of her kidneys to her brother. Since then, our program has distinguished itself as a pioneer in the field of transplantation:
- Utah's first pediatric living donor liver transplant at Primary Children's Hospital
- Utah's first adult living donor liver transplant
- Utah's first split-liver transplant - one liver spit into two, saving two lives
- World's first program to transplant hepatitis C positive livers into hepatitis C negative patients with excellent outcomes.
We Provide Outstanding Outcomes
Working with Intermountain Donor Services (IDS), the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), the Organ Donor Alliance and the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), Intermountain Transplant Services performs hundreds of transplants each year.
