Types of health assessments

Health assessments help us get an idea of your overall health. While many of our tests are intended for medical purposes, others help determine your physical fitness level to match you to the right kind of exercise classes.

Lifestyle Medicine Health Assessment

Our team of experts will do a few tests to learn more about your general fitness, heart health, eating habits, and stress levels. They will use this information to help you find ways to improve. After the assessment, we will give you a copy of your assessment with our recommended improvements. We will also keep a copy on file so you can track your progress.

Price: $350 *HSA/FSA Eligible

The health assessment will last about 90 minutes and includes the following assessments:

  • Wellness profile. You will need to fill out a questionnaire before you arrive. This will give our experts the information they need to craft a wellness prescription.
  • Body composition. The InBody is the gold standard for measuring your body’s lean mass and fat mass. Knowing the proper balance between the two helps you lose or manage weight while being as fit as you can be.
  • Resting metabolic rate. This is how many calories your body burns while resting. This tells us the number of calories you need to eat in order to stay the same weight or to lose some.
  • Functional fitness. This test measures your flexibility, muscle strength, and heart health. Our experts can use this information to make a fitness plan, which will be full of ways for you to improve.
  • Nutrition. You will receive general nutrition recommendations from the exercise physiologist.
  • Baseline results. Healthcare experts will go over the results from tests conducted during your assessment.
  • Game plan. The game plan outlines a wellness prescription that arms you with steps you can take to improve your health and wellbeing.

Body Composition Analysis

Our centers provide body composition testing through InBody analysis. This advanced technology enables us to precisely measure your weight, body density, and calculate your percentage of body fat. With InBody, we offer a thorough understanding of your body composition, empowering you to make informed decisions about your health and wellness journey.

Price: $50 *HSA/FSA Eligible

The InBody analysis is an advanced and non-intrusive technique designed to provide thorough understanding of your body composition. Utilizing bioelectrical impedance technology, this assessment takes advantage of the fact that different tissues (such as muscle, fat, and water) conduct electrical currents differently. The process is painless – you simply stand on the InBody machine, and it takes care of the rest.

An InBody appointment takes about 30 minutes, which includes time for paperwork, testing, and the explanation of your results. The InBody test is quick and minimally invasive. The clinician will ask you to remove your shoes and socks and stand bare footed on the machine for a minute or so while the measurements are calculated. A comprehensive report will be produced and reviewed with you during your appointment.

To prepare:

  • No food or liquids for at least 4 hours (water is okay if not in large amounts)
  • No smoking or exercise at least 4 hours prior to your exam
  • You may take your prescribed medications
  • Avoid hot tubs, sauna, or hot showers 2 hours prior to appointment
  • You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks for the test

Resting Metabolic Rate

Your resting metabolic rate is how many calories your body burns while resting. This lets you know how many calories you need to eat daily to maintain, gain, or lose weight. The resting metabolic rate test gives our health experts the information they need to make a health plan matched perfectly to your needs and goals.

Price: $50 *HSA/FSA Eligible

A Resting Metabolic Rate test lasts for 30 minutes, which includes time for paperwork, testing, and the explanation of your results. You will breathe through a special hose to collect oxygen and carbon dioxide levels as you breath.

To prepare:

  • Please don’t exercise for 12 hours prior to your assessment.
  • Do not eat or drink anything at least 4 hours prior to your exam (water is okay if you don’t drink large amounts).
  • Do not eat or drink anything with caffeine in it and do not take any over-the-counter antihistamines or herbal remedies on the day of the test (prescribed medications are okay).
  • Do not smoke 4 hours prior to your assessment.
  • Wear or bring exercise clothing.

VO2 Max

A VO2 max test is done on a treadmill and measures the amount of oxygen your body uses while you exercise. An Exercise Physiologist uses the data to design a more effective training program for you.

Price: $150 *HSA/FSA Eligible

What to expect:

  • The VO2 Max test lasts about 8 to 14 minutes (not including warm-up and cool-down time).
  • It is done on a treadmill while you wear a nose clip and mouthpiece to capture the air you breathe out.
  • During the test, your heart rate and oxygen intake are monitored.
  • Results are available right after the rest and are explained by a healthcare professional.
