Warts are non-cancerous skin growths especially prevalent in children and teenagers. Though harmless, they are unsightly, which is why patients turn to plastic surgeons for a safe, permanent removal.

What are warts

Warts are viruses and (vary in size and appearance. Warts are most often found on the hands and feet but can be anywhere on the skin. Warts are highly contagious. They are spread by touching. Warts can go away in weeks or months with no treatment, but others last for years.

How are warts removed?

At Intermountain Southern Utah Plastic Surgery, we offer cryotherapy for wart destruction. Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to freeze off warts. Some warts will need to be treated with cryotherapy several times, waiting 4-6 weeks between treatments. The number of treatments depends on the size of the wart and how well the wart responds to the treatment.

Some warts are large enough to require surgical removal, which can be done under local or general anesthesia depending on the size and location

What can wart removal not do?

Warts are more common in patients with a weakened immune system. Most warts can be removed through non-invasive cryotherapy. Consult with your provider at Intermountain Southern Utah Plastic Surgery to find the best option.
