We truly embrace the phrase “work hard, play hard.” With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year in Utah, there is ample opportunity to enjoy the outdoors outside of clinical responsibilities. The illustrious Utah mountains are a haven for hiking, biking, fishing, climbing, skiing, and snowboarding. Numerous ski resorts are within an hour from Salt Lake and are popular weekend destinations for the adventure bound.
Additionally, there is always something to do in the city. Intermountain Medical Center is uniquely situated near downtown Salt Lake, where there are a vast variety of restaurants, cafes, breweries, and more. When fellows are not in the hospital, there are myriad opportunities to enjoy the arts, culture, food, and other unique experiences that the city has to offer:
- Peruse the offerings at one of our renowned museums (The Leonardo Museum, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art, Fort Douglas Military Museum, Hellenic Cultural Museum, Discovery Gateway).
- Catch a game at the Delta Center where the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club play or see the Salt Lake Bees.
- Explore all the national parks Utah offers (Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Moab, Capital Reef, Canyonlands, etc.)
- See your favorite bands perform at both intimate and large concert venues (Delta Center, USANA amphitheater, The Depot, or the Complex)
- Take the family to the Hogle Zoo or Living Planet Aquarium.

Living in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City sits in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, which is known as a bastion for outdoor enthusiasts. With a buzzing downtown scene, at least eight world-class ski resorts within a 40 minute drive or less, blue-ribbon trout streams, desert wonderlands, and beautiful hikes at every turn, Salt Lake City and its surrounding areas give our staff many ways to decompress after a busy shift, making it a fantastic place to call home.
