The EAP can be the referral source for supervisors to use when employees are having personal problems that may or may not be affecting their work performance. Contact EAP Crisis Services for more information.
Three Levels of EAP Referrals
Level I: The employee has a personal problem with no job performance decline. In Level I situations, supervisors remind the employee of the EAP benefit and offer support.
Level II: There is a job performance decline. In Level II situations, supervisors may coordinate with the EAP to provide employee counseling about the job performance concerns. Counseling is voluntary.
Level III: There is a job performance decline with safety concerns. In Level III situations, there is a workplace safety concern and the employee may be removed until there is further evaluation.
These situations are further explained in Fitness for Duty.
