ACCME - Accredited with commendation
Primary Children's Hospital has been recognized for the last 18 years as Accredited with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Accreditation with Commendation is awarded to providers that comply with all ACCME criteria and the accreditation policies. This designation is reserved for institutions that set themselves apart as a hospital delivering high-quality education, serving as an example of the best in continuing medical education.
Primary Children’s Hospital is recognized as a learning organization and change agent for the physicians, patients, and outreach areas we serve.
Four of the nation's top 100 hospitals
Intermountain Healthcare's Alta View, American Fork, LDS, and Logan Regional hospitals, were all recognized by Truven Health Analytics in 2017 for their exceptional patient care and overall performance. The "100 Top Hospitals" are divided into five categories based on hospital type and size. Intermountain is the only health system in the country to have four hospitals included among the Truven list of the nation's top 100. This is a remarkable achievement driven by dedicated, mission-driven caregivers.
100 great community hospitals
Three Intermountain hospitals in Utah -- Bear River Valley Hospital, Cedar City Hospital, and Logan Regional Hospital -- were included in Becker's Hospital Review's 2016 list of "100 Great Community Hospitals" in the U.S. This recognition list is meant to honor hospitals with minimal teaching programs that are considered a vital part of their respective communities.
Best children's hospitals
U.S. News & World Report named Primary Children's Hospital as one of the nation's Best Children's Hospitals in 2016-2017 for nine out of ten pediatric specialties including cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neonatology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology services.

In 2014, HealthInsights honored ten of our hospitals for their top-notch quality. Hospitals recognized include Bear River Valley, Logan Regional, McKay-Dee, Alta View, Dixie Regional, LDS, Intermountain Medical Center, Riverton, Park City, and TOSH.
100 great hospitals in America
Intermountain Medical Center, the flagship of the 22-hospital Intermountain Healthcare system, was named one of the "100 Great Hospitals in America" in 2016 by Becker's Hospital Review. The 100 Great Hospitals are known for “having a strong history of medical innovation, providing top-notch care to patients, leading clinical advancement with forward-thinking research, or holding an irreplaceable spot in their communities,” according to Becker's.
Intermountain life flight honored
Intermountain’s Life Flight medical transport service has received the 2015 Vision Zero Aviation Safety Award for developing safety risk assessment tools to help guide flight decisions and flight crew status. The tools help evaluate flight crew members' health, well-being, and readiness. The award was presented by Airbus Helicopters and the Association of Air Medical Services and recognizes a program or company that has demonstrated a commitment to aviation safety.
Top 20 rural community hospitals
Three organizations collaborated to identify the “Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals” in the U.S. for 2017 and included three Intermountain hospitals: Cedar City Hospital, Garfield Memorial Hospital, and Sevier Valley Hospital. The Top 100 rural hospitals list is based on the 2017 Rural Relevance Study compiled by the Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The hospitals named to the list are top performers in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction, and operating at a lower cost than their peers.
Honored by CDC as "VTE Champion"
Intermountain Healthcare was one of eight health systems and hospitals nationwide recognized in 2016 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for implementing protocols that have helped reduce the rate of venous thromboembolism (VTE), or blood clots, among hospital patients.
Among joint commission-accredited hospitals
Eight Intermountain hospitals were recognized in 2014 for performing among the top third in the nation in key quality measures: Primary Children's, Alta View, Valley View, Logan Regional, McKay-Dee, Intermountain Medical Center, TOSH, and Riverton.
Integrated healthcare networks to watch
IH Executive magazine recognized ten organizations as “Integrated Delivery Networks to Watch” and included Intermountain Health. The organizations are profiled as systems that “are innovating across various care types and settings to help transform the U.S. healthcare system." Intermountain was specifically highlighted for efforts to analyze patient healthcare use and spot trends in high-utilizers.
Top three in patient safety
The Patient Safety Movement Foundation honored Intermountain Healthcare among the top three healthcare institutions that demonstrated the most lives potentially saved by eliminating preventable deaths. Intermountain was recognized for its success in reducing adverse drug events, which typically occurs when a patient has an unexpected reaction to a medication. Also honored were the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the California-based Hospital Quality Institute.
Clean sweep! Three hospitals earn consumers choice
National Research Corporation's Consumers Choice Award was given once again to Intermountain Medical Center, McKay-Dee, and Utah Valley hospitals in their respective metro areas of Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo-Orem. for 2016-2017. Consumers gave the hospitals high marks for the level of service they provided. This marks 13 years in a row for McKay-Dee Hospital and Utah Valley and five for Intermountain Medical Center.
Highest member satisfaction among health plans
For six consecutive years, J.D. Power and Associates has ranked SelectHealth as the #1 health plan for member satisfaction in the four-state mountain region (Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Utah), including in the 2015 Member Health Plan Satisfaction Study.
Nation's best hospitals for patient engagement
Becker's Hospital Review and Axial Exchange put 11 Intermountain hospitals on its 100 Best Hospitals in the US list for patient engagement in 2014. Such a strong showing reflects our emphasis on involving patients in decisions regarding their health care.
Top three in patient safety

The network of mental health service providers, nonprofit and government agencies, community volunteers, and others works together to provide people in rural areas access to affordable health services that otherwise would not be available.

Number 1 healthcare supply chain
Gartner ranked Intermountain Healthcare number one in the United States in 2016-2017 for bending the healthcare cost curve and driving better patient outcomes. These efficiencies and savings allow Intermountain to provide high–quality care at sustainable costs. Despite Intermountain's supply chain value creation record, Gartner said in its newly issued report, "We believe the successes are just beginning for Intermountain."
Community value five-star hospitals
Six Intermountain Health hospitals have been recognized for being among the nation’s best in providing value to their communities through strong financial standing, lower-than-average costs and charges, and high quality of care. Intermountain’s Alta View Hospital, American Fork Hospital, Logan Regional Hospital, McKay-Dee Hospital, Sevier Valley Hospital, and Valley View Medical Center have all been designated “Community Value Five-Star” hospitals for 2015.
Intermountain recognized in United States Senate
Citing Intermountain Health's achievements on its 40th anniversary year, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) recognized Intermountain in the U.S. Senate. His remarks were published in the Congressional Record (Aug. 6, 2015, page S6433). An excerpt: "When I look at Intermountain Healthcare, I see an example to the country of what it means to serve. I see healthcare providers who make people a priority rather than profit. I see an organization that values honesty and ethical conduct with its patients, its peers, and the government."

Hospitals among outstanding performance
Rated by iVantage Health Analytics, our hospitals made the list based on population health, market, and value-based outcomes. Hospitals honored in 2015 include Alta View, American Fork, Dixie Regional, Intermountain Medical Center, Logan Regional, McKay-Dee, Riverton, Sevier Valley, Utah Valley Regional, and Valley View. According to Dr. Elliot Fisher of Dartmouth Medical School, "The secret to Intermountain Healthcare is they use science to improve care, and by improving care, they reduce the cost of care."

Intermountain awarded Hearst Prize for mental health integration
Intermountain Healthcare was awarded the prestigious Hearst Health Prize in recognition of its Mental Health Integration program. This program embeds mental health screening and treatment within primary care and select specialty practices and significantly improves care quality and patient adherence to treatment programs while reducing overall costs. The recognition from Hearst Health, a division of Hearst, and the Jefferson College of Population Health of Thomas Jefferson University, includes a $100,000 award.
Healthcare's most wired
Intermountain Healthcare was named one of "Health Care’s Most Wired" for 2016 by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The list is based on a collaborative study conducted by H&HN and the American Health Association (AHA). Intermountain has been named among the nation’s most technologically savvy hospital systems in 17 of the 18 years the survey has been conducted.
Microsoft health innovation award
Intermountain Health was presented with a 2015 Health Innovation Award from Microsoft for developing and implementing an infrastructure and technology platform that allows caregivers from multiple locations to collaborate and communicate with patients as if they are in the same room.
Information technology innovator
Intermountain Healthcare was again selected as an InformationWeek Elite 100 winner in 2016 for continuing to drive innovation that helps achieve the mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. This was the fifth consecutive year Intermountain has been honored by InformationWeek for business technology innovation.
Most innovative healthcare organizations
A newly published report called, Into the Minds of the C-Suite, identified Intermountain Healthcare as one of the top five most innovative healthcare providers in the U.S. It also ranked Intermountain No. 1 in the “Elite Leadership” subcategory. Conducted by market research firm peer60 and based on a survey of more than 300 C-level healthcare executives from across the nation, the study identified the top five as 1) Mayo Clinic, 2) Kaiser Permanente, 3) Cleveland Clinic, 4) Geisinger Health System, and 5) Intermountain Healthcare. For three consecutive years, Intermountain's Chief Financial Officer Bert Zimmerli has been included among Becker's Hospital Review list of the top healthcare CFOs. According to Becker's, those honored represent leaders who "have demonstrated excellence in healthcare financial management by leading some of the largest, most prominent and financially successful healthcare organizations in the nation."
Allen among nation's top "rural" hospital CEOs
Becker's Hospital Review identified 50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know and included Intermountain's Rob Allen, CEO of Park City Medical Center and Regional Vice President of the Park City-Heber Region, on the 2016 list of leaders who “have demonstrated dedication to providing high-quality, accessible care to their communities.”
People to watch in healthcare information technology
Intermountain's Chief Medical Information Officer, Dr. Stan Huff, was recognized by Health Data Management magazine as one of "20 People to Watch in Healthcare IT in 2016." The list represents a mix of leaders from high-profile government, trade association, advocacy, and provider organizations. They are “expected to make large contributions to the discussion on healthcare IT and provide guidance on where the industry needs to go,” according to the article. Dr. Huff has helped establish Intermountain as a pioneer in medical informatics and helps shape national and international policies and standards on the use of medical information and data analytics.
Patient safety leadership
Dr. Brent James, Intermountain Healthcare's Chief Quality Officer and Executive Director of the Intermountain Institute for Healthcare Leadership, was recognized by Becker's Hospital Review as one of the nation's 50 Experts Leading the Field of Patient Safety.
Forbes names America's best employers
In 2016, Forbes again named Intermountain Healthcare as one of America's Best Employers among large U.S. companies, not-for-profit institutions, government agencies, and U.S. divisions of multinational companies. At about the same time, Becker's Hospital Review named Intermountain one of the best places to work in healthcare. Intermountain employees are passionate about the work they do and find it rewarding in many ways.
Gallup great workplace award
The Gallup Organization has again chosen Intermountain Healthcare as one of 35 companies worldwide and one of only two organizations in Utah to earn the Gallup Great Workplace Award for 2016. The recognition honors companies for their "extraordinary ability to create engaged workplace cultures that drive business outcomes." This is the fifth time Intermountain has received this recognition since 2011.
Top places to work in healthcare
For the fifth consecutive year, Intermountain Healthcare was named as one of the "Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare" in 2017 by Becker's Hospital Review. The list recognizes hospitals, health systems and organizations “committed to fulfilling missions, creating outstanding cultures and offering competitive benefits to their employees,” according to Becker’s.
SelectHealth named a top workplace in Utah
In two separate programs honoring companies for creating a good work environment, SelectHealth was named a top workplace in Utah. Both Utah Business and the Salt Lake Tribune honored it in their respective top workplace awards programs. In addition, SelectHealth received the Platinum Worksite Wellness Award from the Utah Council of Worksite Health Promotion.
Best places to work in information technology
Computerworld named Intermountain Health to its 2016 list of "100 Best Places to Work in I.T." The honor recognizes U.S. employers that "consistently seek out and hire the most talented I.T. people, offer them competitive pay, and provide great benefits." Intermountain also made the Computerworld list in 2015 and five straight years from 2008 to 2012.
High-performing foundation
The Intermountain Foundation was honored by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy for its exemplary performance in raising funds for its local community's health needs. It was one of 45 organizations throughout North America to be recognized as a "High Performer" within the top 25 percent of all reporting organizations.

Hospitals honored for organ donation support
Intermountain's Utah Valley Regional Medical Center received the Gold Medal of Honor for Organ Donation in 2014 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and three other Intermountain hospitals received silver medals.
2014 energy community leader of the year
The Utah Office of Energy Development chose Intermountain Healthcare as the winner of a Governor's Excellence in Energy award for launching various energy conservation initiatives that have reduced energy costs by almost ten percent.
