Hypnosis for Birth

Please select either an IN-PERSON OR a VIRTUAL online class. The classes are set up for either in-person or virtual. If you would like to attend both, you would need to register for both classes.

Description

This course is five 2 ½ hour sessions and includes Childbirth Education preparation as well as Self-Hypnosis techniques to help parents achieve a calm, peaceful, and deeply satisfying birth. Birth Partners are strongly encouraged to attend as they will learn how to support mother with the many techniques. This course is taught by RN Childbirth Educators specialized in Hypnosis techniques for pregnancy, labor, and birth. 

There is included homework, meditation recordings, electronic documents, a class syllabus, and e-mail support to learn the skills proficiently.

We encourage parents to take this class between 15-34 weeks gestation; however, you may take it any time during your pregnancy.

For the virtual class, parents will need to have a computer or a phone with audio and visual capability. They are also asked to gather a few items from their home to use in a comfortable area for labor support activities.

It is recommended to start this class at about 6-7 months gestation or after. Many women enjoy practicing the skills they learn in this class over time, before going into labor.
No. The Breastfeeding class would be a good class to take in addition to this series.
Many women take this class with their first pregnancy, however, since this class is focused on relaxation and hypnosis techniques for a lower intervention birth, many women also take the Childbirth Preparation 6-week series in order to have the additional topics such as postpartum, newborns, cesarean delivery, and breastfeeding, that are not included in this course.
No. The in-person classes are only instructed in-person, and the virtual classes are only taught online, with a live instructor. You will need to choose a virtual class to attend online with a live instructor. Sometimes a hospital is required to cancel an in-person class and in this case, you will be invited to attend virtually.
