Bio

I spent my nursing career on the ICU before getting my NP license. I learned so much from bedside nursing that I carry into my practice in Endocrinology. I truly love what I am doing and feel fortunate to have found this niche. I have a wonderful husband, four children, 3 grandchildren and a very big dog. When I'm not working I enjoy being outdoors hiking or walking our dog by the river. I also love to travel, read and spend time with friends and family.

I would recommended Afton Leuga to anyone and everyone. She is attentive, kind and relatable which is rare in her field. I will be seeing her for as long as possible. Her care is rare and something many people in my health community are looking for.

We have a special place for Afton in our hearts. She literally saved my husband's life back in . He had been collapsing a bit and then started having massive headaches. She told us the next time he was experiencing a headache, we should go immediately to the ER. That evening, Matt did experience another massive headache and when we took him to the ER, we found that he had suffered a subdural hematoma. Had we not heeded her warning, he would not be with us today. Thanks to her going the extra mile of care and true compassion, is alive and doing much better.

Afton is one of the most exceptional health care providers we have ever met! Because of her astute knowledge and keen eye, she single-handedly saved my husband's life by recommending we go to the emergency room next time he experienced one of his large headaches. . Afton has done more to help me control my blood sugar levels than anyone ever has since I was diagnosed in 1991. She not only hears the words spoken but the overall feeling of the patient and helps them more clearly express those feelings/concerns. She is absolutely wonderful.
