Postpartum & High-Risk Care

After delivery, recovery continues in our postpartum unit, where compassionate care teams focus on your physical healing, emotional well‑being, and confidence as a new parent. 

During your postpartum stay, you’ll receive:

• 24/7 nursing care from experienced postpartum nurses who monitor your recovery, manage pain, and support feeding and bonding
• Lactation and feeding support, including one‑on‑one breastfeeding guidance, pumping assistance, and access to lactation consultants
• Newborn education and support, covering infant feeding, safe sleep, diapering, soothing techniques, and what to expect in the first days at home
• Physical recovery care, including incision and perineal care, mobility support, and postpartum health assessments
• Emotional and mental health support, with screening and resources for postpartum mood changes, anxiety, and overall emotional well-being

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

For babies who need extra care, Lutheran Hospital offers a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) providing specialized care for premature and medically complex newborns. Our NICU is staffed 24/7 by board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurses, and advanced clinical specialists, ensuring expert care at every stage.

We care for infants born as early as 28 weeks for those requiring advanced respiratory support, continuous monitoring, and specialized treatment. Private family suites and our family integrated approach to care allow parents to remain actively involved in their baby’s care and development.

Lactation & Breastfeeding Support (Before and After Birth)

We are committed to making lactation support accessible to everyone. That's why we provide a variety of support options for you and your baby, both pre- and postpartum. Whether you've given birth at Lutheran Hospital or another hospital, we are here to assist you. We accept most insurance plans and offer self-pay options to ensure you receive the care you need. 

Prenatal Lactation Support

• One‑on‑one prenatal consultations
• Breastfeeding education and feeding plans
• Create a plan to meet your feeding goals
• Breastfeeding Basics prenatal class 

Postpartum Lactation Care

• One-on-one in-hospital breastfeeding instruction and support
• 7‑days a week lactation support with a board-certified lactation consultant
• Outpatient follow‑up visits
• Donor milk access through Mother’s Milk Bank
• Hospital grade pump rentals available during your stay and available to rent
• Breastfeeding support group held twice a week
