Intermountain’s integrated Sports Medicine team consists of sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, certified sports dietitians, exercise physiologists and performance coaches.

Athletic Training Services

Intermountain Sports Medicine provides Athletic Trainers to each of the four public schools on the Wasatch Back. We also have partnerships with other clubs and organizations such as US Ski and Snowboard, Vail Corporation, Soldier Hollow, Mountain Trails Foundation, Young Riders, Stay Park City Cycling, Park City Fire, Project Podium.

Meet our Trainers

  • Lacee Brown, ATC
    Lacee Brown is from Orem, Utah. She received a degree in Athletic Training from Southern Utah University in 2013 and has been the Athletic Trainer at Wasatch High School ever since. Lacee’s passion is sports and she enjoys being a part of the athletic department at Wasatch High School. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know the athletes. She enjoys watching them work to reach their goals and helping them reach those goals when injuries get in the way. Lacee currently resides in Heber City, Utah. When she isn’t at a sporting event at the high school she spends her spare time paddle boarding, reading, and hanging out with her dog.
  • Dynna Farr, ATC
    Dynna graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Sports Medicine, emphasizing Athletic Training. She started her career at South Summit High School in 2008. Dynna built the sports medicine program from the ground up and is proud of programs, policies, and procedures that are in place that keep your student-athlete safe. Dynna is passionate about sports medicine and works hard to provide the best possible care. When not on the sideline, you can find Dynna enjoying nature and being outside, playing with her kids, or trying new recipes in the kitchen. Dynna is proud to be a part of Intermountain Health Care and happy to help with any concerns you may have.
  • Jared Romero, ATC
    Jared Romero is from Roy, Utah. He received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Utah State University in 2011. He then went on to achieve his Master’s in Athletic Training from Weber State University in 2014. 

    Jared has been the Athletic Trainer for Park City High School since 2014 . He enjoys all of the relationships he has built within the Park City community. His favorite part of the job is seeing his student athletes succeed after their career is over at the high school level. Jared currently resides in Park City and loves to attend sporting events, concerts, traveling, and spending time with his family.

  • Nick Williams, ATC
    Nick Williams is an out-reach Athletic Trainer at North Summit High School in Coalville, Utah. Nick attended the University of Utah, where he received his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training and Kinesiology. Nick then worked as a graduate assistant, followed by a year interning with the National Football League. Before becoming an Intermountain employee, he worked in both rehabilitation and orthopedic surgery settings here in Summit County. 

    Nick enjoys working at North Summit High School, where he teaches multiple upper-level CTE courses and provides Sports Medicine coverage for the athletes in the community. He also enjoys his part-time job coaching various early morning fitness classes in Park City each week.
    He and his wife Maychel live in Heber City with their two girls. He enjoys playing a wide variety of sports, functional fitness, and spending time outdoors hiking and paddle boarding with his family.

As as an official medical provider for the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), Park City Hospital is proud to support the medical needs of its athletes, coaches, and staff.

Just steps away from the USSA training facility at Quinn's Junction where the best skiers and snowboarders in the world train in their respective sports, Park City Hospital is equipped to handle everything a world-class athlete needs, from emergency care to imaging to orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Max Testa

Education: Universita degli Studi di PAVIA, Doctor of Medicine 1982. Specialization school of Sport Medicine, Pavia in Sports Medicine 1985.

Dr. Max Testa’s goal is to help athletes of all levels to reach their performance goals. He utilizes scientifically based, individualized, and proven training methods to achieve your highest athletic aptitude, whether you are a novice desiring to learn, an enthusiast-focused on improving fitness, or an elite competitor seeking that top ten finish.

Dr. Testa is a sports medicine physician whose methodology emphasizes the importance of a fine-tuned human engine to help athletes reach peak performance. In Max’s words, “athletes get distracted trying to lighten the weight of their bike or become more aerodynamic, yet they forget to check their engine and implement quality training that affects the running of that engine.” His unique sports medicine background and extensive European training in exercise physiology give Max profound insight into and expertise with practical training and implementation methods to reach the acme of performance.

Max Testa has worked for 29 years with professional cycling teams as a team physician. He began in 1986 with the American 7-Eleven Professional Cycling Team and continued with Motorola, MG TechnoGym, and currently supports the BMC Racing Team as Chief Medical Director. He has participated as a coach and team physician in over 30 grand tours, including Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Tour of Spain, and prominent one-day races such as World Championships for both American professional and national team cyclists and the Classic northern European, Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix.

Max Testa’s wealth of practical knowledge, keen insight, and valuable skill comes from working with elite, international-level cyclists. Some of those athletes include Cadel Evans (2011 Tour de France winner and 2009 World champion); Tejay van Garderen (2014 Tour de France 5th place finisher, 2013 Tour of California and 2013,2014 USA Pro Cycling Challenge winner); Greg Van Avermaet (Tour de France stage 13 victory 2015, 3rd place finisher Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders, 2015); Andy Hampsten (only American to win the Tour of Italy); Davis Phinney (multiple Tour de France stage winner); and Paolo Bettini (Italian 2004 Olympic gold medalist).

Max now wants to share this information with any athlete who desires to reach their highest athletic potential. Max and his wife, Julie, live in Park City. Julie and Max and their two children are active in tennis, soccer, cycling, skiing and swimming.


S. Marlene Hatch, P.T.

Education: The Chicago School of Medicine, Bachelors of Physical Therapy, 1992; University of St. Augustine, Sports Medicine Certified, 2000. 

Clinical Interests: Sport injuries (specifically cycling and running injuries), shoulder rehabilitation, foot/ankle rehabilitation, custom sport and lifestyle orthotics. 

Personal: Marlene is a Park City native and understands the demands and expectations of the Park City lifestyle. Her passions are road cycling, mountain biking, trail running, Nordic skiing, teleskiing and spending time with her children.

Mason Law, DPT

Education: Utah Valley University, Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, 2011; University of St. Augustine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, 2015.

Clinical Interests: Cycling related injuries and bike fitting, orthopedic rehab, manual therapy, vestibular training, including concussion treatment and balance training. Mason previously worked in Cardiac Acute Care and Spinal Cord Rehabilitation.

Personal: Mason lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and daughter. He enjoys riding and racing all kinds of bicycles. Other hobbies include snowboarding, hiking and swimming.


Julienne West, MS, RCEP

Julienne is an Exercise Physiologist with a Masters of Health and Human Movement degree from Utah State University in Logan, UT, and the ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification. Upon graduating with her undergraduate degree, she served as an Exercise Therapist in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation as well as in the Behavioral Health Unit. Julienne has been with Intermountain Healthcare for a number of years working in a variety roles including; Exercise Therapist, Education Coordinator, CPR Instructor, Healthy Balance Coordinator, and Fitness Tester. 

In addition to her clinical work, Julienne has been teaching group fitness classes since 2006 and thoroughly enjoys the ability to teach others and to develop relationships attained through group fitness. Julienne has extensive knowledge and experience in cardiovascular disease and management, patient education, and is passionate about exercise. Julienne is an endurance runner and she enjoys road cycling as well.

Jessica LaRoche

Jessica LaRoche is a registered dietitian and certified specialist in sports dietetics at Park City Hospital LiVe Well Center and Sports Performance. She completed her master’s degree in nutrition at the University of Utah in 2010 and started her career in a clinical nutrition setting. Jessica quickly determined that she wanted to pursue sports dietetics and was fortunate to have dedicated mentors in the field as she pursued her sports nutrition certification. She started working with US Speedskating in 2014 as their team dietitian and traveled with them to World Cup events and the 2018 Winter Olympics. After that she changed gears and continues to work with the US track cycling program, as well as athletes in road, mountain and BMX biking and triathlon. Jessica started supporting women’s professional tennis through the WTA at the start of 2020 and is eager to provide nutrition guidance to an international group of women. Jessica loves living and working in Park City and enjoys the challenge of helping local athletes reach their potential through proper fueling and nutrition guidance

Mac Brown

Mac Brown leads business development for Intermountain Sports Medicine at Park City Hospital. Mac understands the elite athlete from his former professional career as an Ironman athlete competing for Team Timex.

Prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare in 2015, Mac was the director of sales for Bonk Breaker Nutrition in Los Angeles where he managed sales for all NFL/NCAA/NBA/MLB accounts. Mac cultivates and serves community partnerships along the Wasatch Back as well as the Western United States for Intermountain Healthcare focusing on sports performance and sports medicine.

Mac graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and has a Sports Industry Essentials Certificate from Columbia University in New York. He and his wife Kristin live in Park City with their 2 boys.
