Emergency Services at Primary Children's
Emergency services at Primary Children's Hospital are a collaboration of efforts between the hospital, trauma, and Life Flight services. Our hospital is a full-service, designated Trauma 1 Pediatric Center, certified by the American College of Surgeons. We are the only Pediatric Trauma 1 Center in the Intermountain West and serve patients in a 6-state region.
Our Emergency Department staff of physicians, nurses, technicians, and respiratory therapists strives to work in small teams to minimize repetition of information and streamline each family's visit. The ED also works in partnership with pediatricians in the Rapid Treatment Unit, a short-stay unit for care of hospitalized children who will have shorter stays. All attending physicians in Primary Children's Emergency Department are board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.

Pediatric Life Flight
The Life Flight Pediatric team is the only dedicated pediatric transport service in the Intermountain West. The nurses on this team have spent their career caring for children between the ages of 30 days to 14 years, and older. What is unique about this team compared to other services in the area that transport pediatric patients, is that their nursing experience, training, physician support and oversight are based out of Primary Children’s Hospital, a nationally known and recognized hospital dedicated to providing specialized and compassionate care for children and teens. In collaboration with emergency and critical care physicians at Primary Children’s Hospital, the pediatric specialty team provides best practice in pediatric care management to seamlessly transition care from referral to receiving hospital.
