Overview

This paved trail follows the Spanish Fork River for more than 6 miles offering a multitude of route options for walking and bicycling. The trail begins near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon on Rivers Bottom Road before passing through Canyon View Park. From Canyon View Park to the Spanish Fork Sports Park there are only two midway access points – a crossing at 1100 East and a crossing at Main Street. This gives the majority of the trail a wonderful natural feel with the river on one side and farmland on the other. This trail is suitable for children and adults of all ages and skill levels.

Trailhead

The Spanish Fork River Trail begins on Rivers Bottom Road near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. To reach the trailhead from I-15 near Spanish Fork:

  1. Take Exit 257 for US 6 toward Price.
  2. Drive southeast on US 6 for 4.1 miles to Powerhouse Road.
  3. Turn right (west) onto Powerhouse Road.
  4. Continue 0.2 miles to Rivers Bottom Road.
  5. Turn right (north) onto Rivers Bottom Road.
  6. Drive 100 yards and turn left into the Spanish Fork River Trail parking area (40.08466,-111.59628).

More parking is available 200 yards further up Rivers Bottom Road at the eastern terminus of the paved trail.

The Spanish Fork River Trail can also be accessed at Canyon View Park, the crossing at 1100 East, the crossing at Main Street and near the end of the trail at the Spanish Fork Sports Park.

The Route

From the parking area on Rivers Bottom Road, begin walking on the paved trail heading southwest across the river. The trail passes through the parking lot of Spanish Oaks Golf Course and along Powerhouse Road before turning into Canyon View Park. Continue walking as the trail continues in an easterly direction.

After approximately 2.2 miles, the trail crosses 1100 East on a crosswalk (40.07523,-111.62919). Cross the road and continue walking through the scenic river corridor while enjoying excellent views of the nearby mountains. Soon the trail diverts north away from the river and around a large cornfield before returning back to the rivers edge.

After approximately 5.0 miles, the trail crosses Main Street through an underpass (40.09464,-111.65537) before continuing on to its eastern end at the Spanish Fork Sports Park. If you’re looking for a longer walk, the trail continues a short distance beyond the Sports Park to several neighborhood access points. Total walking distance from the Rivers Bottom Road Trailhead to the Sports Park is approximately 6.0 miles one-way.
