Breastfeeding Basics
Feeding a newborn is not as straightforward as it might sound and this prenatal class can illuminate the path for first-time parents who want to become a breastfeeding household. Expectant parents benefit from a detailed picture of the first day, the first week, and the first month of breastfeeding, and a review of what is normal and what is not...and when does reaching out for help make sense.
Topics include:
- The fundamental science of breastfeeding & nutrition
- Establishing and maintaining an abundant milk supply
- How to latch and position baby at the breast
- Skin-to-skin and reading your baby's signals
- Expectations and emotional components of breastfeeding
- Choosing the right breast pump and introducing a bottle
This class will help you get breastfeeding off to a good start and is designed to include both parents- partners are encouraged to attend!
Cancellation policy
We understand that circumstances may arise that require you to cancel or change your registration. Contact us prior to five (5) business days before class begins for a refund or to reschedule. No refunds or transfers will be given after this time.
Weather cancellation
In the event of a snowstorm or adverse weather, an email will be sent out notifying you regarding class cancellation and we will follow up with a rescheduled class date the following business day.
Low enrollment
Occasionally, we must cancel a class due to low enrollment and will notify you by phone or email. In these instances, we will be happy to find a new class for your or issue a full refund.
