Medical Terminology for Interpreters
Intermountain Healthcare is a licensed provider of Medical Terminology for the Medical Interpreter (The Community Interpreter International), an internationally recognized course designed by Cross-Cultural Communications. This 24-hour training is language neutral, preparing individuals for conversations in various healthcare settings by learning technical medical terms in the English language. Content in this course includes explanations and terminology for the following:
- Greek and Latin roots and affixes of medical terms
- Common medical tests and procedures
- Symptoms and abbreviations
- Body systems and organs
The specific body systems reviewed are:
- The Musculoskeletal System
- The Integumentary System
- The Circulatory System
- The Respiratory System
- The Nervous System
- The Endocrine System
- The Immune System
- The Digestive System
- The Urinary System
*This course is a supplemental course to The Medical Interpreter (The Community Interpreter International), a course for medical interpreters. Training for Medical Terminology is synchronous with a session of The Medical Interpreter. See related events for more information.
Minimum qualifications:
- Participants must be 18 years or older and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
*Textbook and workbook included in registration fee. Registration is due 15 business days prior to the first day of class to ensure books and other materials are made available in a timely manner. You have 3 days after the registration payment is submitted to cancel and qualify for a full refund. Cancellations made after the 3-day grace period, up until the day before class starts, will result in a $50 cancellation fee. No refunds will be awarded after the first day of class. Students need to attend the entire 60 hrs. of instruction and pass a final written exam in order to get credit for the course.
