NICU Sibling Class
Older brothers and sisters can become apprehensive when their new baby must spend time the NICU. They are not only concerned about the baby having to stay at the hospital, but by the disruption of the household while parents are away. With the shift in their normal routine, you may observe some behavior changes, fears or worries.
We’d like to help by giving them a safe place to process this big new event! The purpose of the sibling class is to educate siblings about the hospital to alleviate some of their concerns and help them cope with the disruption of their regular routine.
During this class, siblings can talk about their baby and learn about the tubes, wires and monitors that are helping them grow strong enough to come home! Through play activities, children can express their concerns, be involved in the hospital experience, and have any questions clarified. Please plan to have an adult attend the class with your child.
