Angela M. Jackson, CMHC

Angela provides individual and family therapy for children under the age of 12, with a special interest in working with children under the age of 8 years old. Angela will frequently agree to treat any patient she has previously treated regardless of age if they would like to return to therapy with her. Angela works with a variety of clinical issues including: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, self-esteem, parenting issues, behavioral disruption, attention and hyperactivity problems, child abuse, divorce, blended families, Autism Spectrum Disorder, school disruption, death, obsessive thoughts and Behaviors, medical trauma Angela uses various toys, games, art, and sand along with creative techniques to teach concepts to children and their parents. Angela wants the parents to know and understand all the skills the child is being taught so they are included in the therapy process frequently. In addition, Angela uses a child centered play therapy approach to help the child express feelings alone with the therapist. Angela always includes parents in therapy sessions when the child is age 3 and under.

Angela is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor working as a child and family therapist at McKay-Dee Behavioral Health. After receiving her Master's degree in 1990, Angela worked at a county mental health facility in Arizona for 7 years before moving to Utah and working for Intermountain Health. She specializes in working with young children and using playful approaches, behavioral approaches and cognitive approaches to help children and their parents in a comfortable setting. Angela also has an interest in metabolic health and the impact health/illness have on mental health conditions.
