Practice Focus

Mental Health Integration (MHI) is an approach at Intermountain Healthcare that treats the whole person within primary care. Mental health services are guided by your established Primary Care Physician and supported by MHI psychiatrists and therapists working within the same clinic. Your MHI psychiatrist will see you short-term for consultation to clarify diagnosis and adjust your treatment plan, with the goal of referring you back to your primary care provider for long-term care after you are doing better. If you end up needing a long-term psychiatrist, MHI can help coordinate care until you are able to get into a long-term provider. Since this is a time-limited consultation model, MHI requires a referral from your primary care provider so that you can continue to get the care you need after you complete your visits with the MHI psychiatrist. You must have a primary care provider at one of the clinics where Dr. McColgan works to see her in her current role. If you do not have a primary care provider at one of these clinics (Taylorsville, Holladay, Alta View, Avenues Internal Medicine, Avenues OB, Avenues Women's Center, Southridge, Bountiful), please discuss other options with your PCP or call 833-442-2211 to get more information about Behavioral Health services available through Intermountain.

Brittany McColgan was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She received her bachelor's degree at Bowdoin College in Maine and subsequently completed her medical degree at the University of Oklahoma. She came to Utah for her residency in adult psychiatry where she served as co-chief resident during her final year. She currently works as part of the Mental Health Integration program at Intermountain, where she provides collaborative psychiatric care in multiple different primary care clinics in the Salt Lake City area. She is interested in unique models of mental health delivery, addiction psychiatry, global mental health, and women's mental health.
