Each year, approximately 170 volunteers provide more than 17,500 hours of volunteer service at American Fork Hospital. You can recognize them by their distinctive bright green shirts and jackets.

How do volunteers serve in the hospital?

  • Staff and operate the gift shop
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors at the Lobby Information Desk
  • Serve as liaison in the Emergency Room and Same Day Surgery waiting rooms and in the Medical/Surgical Unit
  • Deliver flowers and letters to patients

How can I become a hospital volunteer?

  • Be 14 years of age or older
  • Complete an online application
  • Work a minimum of 4 hours a week
  • Make a six-month commitment
  • Comply with all health requirements for vaccinations and immunizations
  • Complete new volunteer orientation
  • Be able to complete the tasks required of the position

Applicants must complete an online application for a volunteer position. Available positions are posted the first Monday of each month. Volunteers 14-18 years old will need to meet our junior volunteer requirements. Placement will be made according to skill, availability of positions, applicant availability and reference check. Applicants can expect the application process to take at least three weeks.
