Nutrition and dietitian services provide comprehensive nutrition services for infants and children of all ages in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. While the children we serve have many different and complex medical conditions, we work to optimize each individual child’s nutrition to ensure good health in the hospital, as well as healthy eating and balanced nutrition practices for a lifetime.

Nutrition and dietitian services include clinical registered dietitians, dietetic technicians, research, patient care, chefs, and food service associates. This team works closely and is dedicated to provide the best nutrition available.

Two new services, offered by dietitians, will help you and your family improve nutrition and health.

  1. Individuals with Select Health insurance may see a Registered Dietitian for 5 visits per year, free of cost. This is extended to the insurance holder, spouse and dependents.

  2. Medical Nutrition Therapy Off-Site Assessment. We’re able to come to your home or local grocery store to complete an individualized nutrition assessment. We can review the foods you have in your home, make healthy and nutritious shopping and cooking recommendations.  Give grocery store tours individualized to your health needs and food preferences.

Inpatient Services

Many children require special attention from a Registered Dietitian to ensure they received the best nutrition care. While your child is at Primary Children’s Hospital they will be followed by a Registered Dietitian.

Outpatient Services

To increase the success of your child’s nutrition care plan we recommend multiple, long-term, and consistent appointments with the Outpatient Dietitian.
